Karrie ChamblessAre you looking for a piano teacher who can tap into your child's natural abilities? Would you like to find a piano teacher for your student with special needs? Have you ever wished you could pick up where you left off, from the piano lessons you took as a child?
I have a professional background in piano, general education and special education. I received my degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Texas at Tyler. I am certified to teach Early Childhood Through Grade 12 Special Education, Early Childhood Through Grade 4 General and English as a Second Language.
Improvisation is the cornerstone of my approach as a piano teacher, to help students bring out the music inside of them and grow into lifelong players. By focusing on listening skills, I teach my students to be independent music thinkers: able to read music notation, to play by ear and to understand the relationship between the two. I give them the skills they need to create their own compositions, as well as their own arrangements of favorite songs.
I welcome all students, including those who are:
* Beginning elementary through high school students;
* Adults, teens and children with special needs.
* First time adult learners;
* Adults who played as children who would like to play again;
